The HP tech support rep that helped me informed me that HP is constantly running into the problem with McAfee's VPN feature. The real problem is the flaw in the McAfee VPN feature that interferes with the connection between my laptop and my printer. Their rep then told me that HP didn't provide a complete solution and that there were several other steps I should have gone through with McAfee to solve the problem. However once the work VPN is connected, the home WiFi network indicates (No Internet Access) Ping Test. I called McAfee's customer service again, asking to be reimbursed the fee I paid to HP. Home WiFi: Verified Windows machine can connect to the home wifi network and successfully browse the internet (No VPN involved) Home WiFi + Work VPN: Verified Windows machine can connect to home WiFi. This is the standard encryption across the VPN industry and is also used by the military. On a positive note, it uses what it calls bank-grade 256-bit AES encryption. 2.Check the Notification Area System Icons settings. Other McAfee Safe Connect reviews suggest it could be appealing to its existing mass customer base, who are not well versed in the concept of VPNs. The printer problems continued, so I contacted HP support, and they helped me determine a solution, which is to manually turn off the McAfee VPN feature. but as I subsequently found out that is the VPN feature that comes with my Dell laptop. Instead she talked me through to my control panel to turn off VPN. Their customer service rep couldn't direct me to an option on my McAfee account to inactivate their VPN feature. I contacted McAfee's customer service, asking how to inactivate the VPN. Immediately following this, I was unable to print anything out on my printer. to activate the VPN feature, which I did.
